Honda has added two Civic Natural Gas models to its 2014 range in the United States. Powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), the 4-cylinder 1798cc 5-speed sedan is touted by Honda as the country’s only factory-produced natural gas-powered vehicle from a major automaker.
New for 2014, the Civic Natural Gas Leather Navi model gains additional premium features such as leather seats, heated front seats, heated side mirrors and a six-speaker audio system. The Civic Natural Gas’ standard interior has also been upgraded with more premium seating materials and door panel trim.
Other new features standard across all versions of the Civic include new Display Audio with 7-inch touchscreen that allows users to pinch, swipe and tap just like a smartphone to access audio, phonebook, media, vehicle information and available navigation features.
The Honda Civic Natural gas 2012 has an emissions rating of AT-PZEV (Advanced Technology Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle), as certified by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The 2014 uses the same engine system.
Not including on-road costs, the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the Civic Natural Gas Sedan 5AT is $26,640 and the Civic Natural Gas Sedan Navi 5AT is $29,290. Both cars have US EPA Fuel Economy Ratings (city/highway/combined) of 27/38/31 depending on driver behavior and road conditions.
The 2014 Civic Natural Gas will be available at Honda dealers in 37 states on February 15.
