U.S.-based Arch Coal, Inc. has placed an order with GFS Corp (GFS) for EVO-MT™ 9300 NG+D™ Conversion Systems for installation on Komatsu 930E haul trucks operating at the coal miner’s Black Thunder Mine in Campbell County, Wyoming. As a part of an ongoing evaluation program, GFS Corp will be converting nearly a quarter of Arch Coal’s Komatsu 930E haul truck fleet to an LNG operation using the EVO-MT 9300 System.
The 930E trucks will join two existing 830E trucks that have been operating on LNG since early 2014. “As the pilot customer for our EVO-MT System for the Komatsu 830E, we are pleased that Arch Coal is expanding their evaluation program to include their 930E fleet,” said Jason Green, President and CTO of GFS Corp. The company expects to complete the conversion of the 930E trucks by the fourth quarter of this year.
According to the Arch Coal website, Black Thunder is one of the largest single coal mining complexes in the world and the first coal mine in the world to ship 1 billion tons. The company operates 148 haul trucks at this site.
