Gazprom Germania GmbH is expanding its network of natural gas filling stations in Germany through an agreement with utility EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW), that will see GAZPROM Germania acquire four natural gas filling stations in Stuttgart and Nagold from EnBW on 1 May 2015.
The acquisition will bring the number of natural gas filling stations Gazprom Germania operates in Germany to 28, advancing plans to increase that number to 35 by end of 2015. It is also the first time the company has operated in the state of Baden-Württemberg located in Germany’s southwest.
Netze BW GmbH, which has been operating the filling stations on behalf of EnBW, will continue to operate the filling stations. Motorists with EnBW customer cards will be sent information about future arrangements as soon as possible.
Natural gas is becoming increasingly important as a fuel for motor vehicles. There are almost 100,000 natural gas vehicles registered in Germany, and that number is increasing: Last year, Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority registered over 9,100 new natural gas commercial vehicles and cars – 2.3 % more than in the previous year, Gazprom Germania reports.
Three of the new stations will be in Stuttgart and one in Nagold-Iselshausen.
