Gasrec, a European supplier of liquefied gas for road transport, has confirmed that the UK’s first DAF Euro 6 dual-fuel heavy goods vehicle, an XF Euro 6, 12.8 litre, 450 hp small midlift, will be displayed on the company’s stand at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show, on 14-16 April at the NEC Birmingham.
Gasrec explains it’s stand, which the company is sharing with DIESELGAS (formerly Prins Autogas), will reflect the growth in popularity of both liquefied (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicle fuels and the increasingly strategic infrastructure supporting them across the UK road network.
Chris Thornycroft Smith, Gasrec non-executive director, explains: “It has been tremendously exciting to see the success of this first DAF Euro 6 conversion to dual-fuel. It comes at a time when we have a host of vehicle manufacturers moving forward with their R&D programmes to advance the development of gas vehicles for the future as demand for this commercially and environmentally advantageous technology grows.”
DIESELGAS is the first company to successfully convert a new DAF Euro 6 vehicle to run on dual-fuel (compressed natural gas and diesel). The innovation provides a solution to the difficulties facing the dual-fuel vehicle technology industry in adapting a Euro 6 type vehicle to run using this carbon saving technology.
