Logo of European CommissionThe European Commission has issued a Call for Proposals for the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) financial programme. The main objective of CEF Transport is to help complete the TEN-T Core Network and its Corridors by 2030. A total budget of €26.2 billion (USD 33 billion) has been allocated to co-fund projects in the EU Member States for the period 2014-2020, including for CNG and LNG infrastructure for transportation fuel.

This is the first call according to the new TEN-T guidelines (2014-2020) facilitating CNG and LNG infrastructure project applications, as Art. 39 “New on technologies and innovation” refers to a) the decarbonisation of transport through transition to innovative transport technologies; b) enable the decarbonisation of all transport modes by stimulating energy efficiency as well as the introduction of alternative propulsion systems and the provision of corresponding infrastructure; c) reduce external costs, such as pollution of any kind, including noise, congestion and health damage. CNG and LNG can play a strong role in the context of these objectives!

All details on the application procedure and the different requirements are accessible via the CEF website: inea.ec.europa.eu/en/cef/cef_transport/apply_for_funding/cef_transport_call_for_proposals_2014.htm.

The Guide for Applicants and the Application Form for all the 2014 CEF Transport Calls will be made available on the CEF Transport website by Friday, 26 September 2014.
