VW Golf VII Variant TDI BlueMotion
The database of EcoMobiliste, the publication of the Swiss Transport and Environment Association (ATE) – which provides information about the least harmful cars to environment available on the Swiss market – has been updated to the end of October 2013. While it shows new models are pushing fuel consumption down, it is once again natural gas vehicles (NGVs) that lead the way. First and foremost is the VW Golf VII with a CO2 emission rate of only 74 g / km using Swiss natural gas, attracting the maximum 5-star rating.
The VW Golf is just one of several NGVs that are included in Ecomobiliste. According to the Swiss TopTen website, four natural gas vehicles occupy the first four places in the small car segment:
- VW eco up! 1.0 Blue Motion technology – CO2 63.2 g/km (Euro 5)
- Skoda Citigo 1.0 Green tec – CO2 63.2 g/km (Euro 5)
- Seat Mii 1.0 MPI Ecofuel – CO2 63.2 g/km (Euro 5)
- Fiat Panda 0.9 TwinAir NP – CO2 68.8 g/km (Euro5)
As the above emissions figures indicate, the first three are rebranded models of the same vehicle. All vehicles use compressed natural gas (CNG).
