Dourogás Opens Second NGV Station in Portugal

Portugal Dourogas filling stationPortuguese gas distributor Dourogás has opened its second natural gas vehicle filling station, representing an investment of EUR 1.5 million (USD 1.9 m). The new station, located in Portugal’s main logistic centre of Carregado where it will service transportation fleets, is set up to supply Compressed (CNG) and Liquefied (LNG) natural gas.

According to the company, the aim is to continue to expand the network of CNG fueling for a total of six stations.The first station was opened in 2013, also an L-CNG station, in Bragança district. Here the main customers are using heavy trucks for waste collection. New stations will be opened in 2015 at Porto and Loures. Future Dourogás plans take in Iberian border areas, on routes to Madrid and Barcelona.

“With the inauguration of this new filling station in Carregado, we continue the expansion of the first network of NGV stations in Portugal, allowing for greater competitiveness of Portuguese import and export companies,” said the chief executive of Natural Dourogás, Nuno Afonso Moreira, in a statement.

Among the customers of the new station, are HAVI Logistics and Sonae MC, who are converting their fleets to CNG. Sonae has also added two LNG-fueled trucks to its fleet.
