Demand to Produce CNG Corolla in Pakistan Met By Indus-Toyota

Specifically built for Pakistan: Toyota Corolla Ecotec CNG

Indus Motor Company (IMC), a joint venture between the House of Habib, Toyota Motor Corporation Japan (TMC) and Toyota Tsusho Corporation Japan (TTC), has launched a new environment-friendly 1.3 litre Corolla Ecotec XLi/GLi, a factory fitted CNG variant. According to IMC, the new Corolla Ecotec Xli/GLi has been specifically developed with factory fitted bi-fuel option (petrol and CNG) in response to consumer demand. The economical, reduced-emission Ecotec delivers the same performance and durability as that of petrol variant.

Giving details about the new Corolla, IMC issued the following statement: “In response to the strong consumer demand we have developed Corolla Ecotec keeping in view the local driving conditions. We thank Toyota Motor Corporation for their continuous support to maintain quality, durability and reliability standards during the development of Corolla Ecotech”.

Other features include:

  • Sequential Injection System to Control CNG injection by ECU, to provide optimum vehicle performance.
  • Engine Cylinder Head designed by Toyota especially for CNG to improve durability.
  • Gas Tank 60 Liters made from chromium molybdenum steel.

The CNG model features a 2-year or 50,000km warranty with Toyota standards.  It is also features driving comfort as rear coil springs are reinforced to handle the additional CNG load.

IMC says the price of Ecotec XLi and GLi will be Rs. 1,519,000 (USD 33,550) and 1,649,000 (USD 36,400) respectively.
