SIVA, a Portuguese vehicle importer and distributor of Volkswagen Group brands, and gas distributor Dourogás, signed at the beginning of April a protocol to disseminate and exploit the new opportunities that compressed natural gas (CNG) offers as an alternative fuel. Addressing one of the legitimate concerns of fuel availability in a developing marketplace, Dourogás has declared its intention to enlarge the CNG refueling network.
Benefits of natural gas vehcles (NGVs) include improved economy and efficiency while reducing environmental impact by lowering emissions of harmful gases. Vehicle performances and range are similar to that provided by diesel or gasoline models.
SIVA, importer and distributor of Audi, Skoda, Bentley, Lamborghini, Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles currently offers several vehicles running on natural gas: the Volkswagen up!, Golf and Caddy; Skoda Citigo and Octavia; soon to be joined by the new Audi A3 G-tron.
The strategic alignment between SIVA and Dourogás will promote natural gas as an alternative energy made more readily available by Dourogás’s expanding network. A new CNG station is soon to be opened at St. António dos Cavaleiros, Loures.
