Construction of the CNG Romania Project’s first of nine Compressed Natural Gas filling stations is underway. The project was initiated by Denisson Energy SRL, member of Antares Group, and the NGVA Romania Association. The location of the station subscribes to the project strategy to serve the transit on pan-European corridors as well as the urban traffic.
The station will be built in Kika Militari area, next to Piteşti-Bucharest A1 Motorway. It will be the first of the nine CNG stations, planned to be built in Bucharest, Arad, Timisoara, Deva, Pitesti, Constanta, Craiova, Drobeta Turnu Severin and Sibiu, according to the project objectives. All of them will be fully operational by the end of 2019.
The project, initiated by Denisson Energy (a member of the Antarres Group) and the NGVA Romania Association within the framework of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), aims to implement the first network of filling stations for compressed natural gas vehicles in Romania along the pan-European corridors. The project benefits from an EU co-financing of 85%.
The project’s central goal is to decarbonise and improve mobility in Europe by placing the first CNG network in Romania on the central axis of the main TEN-T road transport corridors linking the EU Center and the West with the South-West and the Black Sea states, the city of Constanţa in south-eastern Romania being the end point of the corridor.
