Chart Ferox, a.s. (Chart Ferox), a wholly-owned subsidiary of global engineering manufacturer Chart Industries, Inc. in the Czech Republic, has been awarded two contracts by GAZPROM Germania to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueling stations for LNG city buses in Poland produced by the local bus manufacturer Solbus.
Chart Ferox is responsible for the complete station design and manufacture, and will assist with the installation and commissioning of the stations.
The first LNG vehicle fueling station, to be located in the city of Olsztyn, utilizes a skid based design facilitating quick and easy installation with minimal civil works, yet still provides all the typical permanent fueling station features including a sophisticated control system with remote access and diagnostics.
The second, permanent LNG vehicle fueling station will be located in the Polish capital Warsaw and will be the first station in Europe dedicated to providing LNG as fuel for city buses, incorporating three LNG dispensers provided by Flow Instruments, a Chart company.
Both stations are fully automatic and represent a major milestone in the development of the LNG vehicle fueling infrastructure in Europe. Hans Lonsain, CEO of Chart Ferox, stated, ”This investment strengthens the growing LNG infrastructure in Poland and will boost the use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel providing a safe, clean-burning and economical alternative to diesel.”
“Natural gas is becoming increasingly important as a fuel for motor vehicles. With this deal, we are strengthening our commitment to the use of natural gas as an environmentally-friendly motor fuel”, said Vyacheslav Krupenkov, Senior Managing Director of GAZPROM Germania GmbH.
