The International Energy Agency recently released its report — 2020 Global Energy Review — which states energy demand will fall 6% in 2020. This represents the largest decline in 70 years in percentage terms, the largest ever decline in absolute terms, and seven times the decline after the 2008 global financial crisis. This is predicted to lead to a record fall in carbon emissions of almost 8%, the lowest level in a decade. Read more »

Biomethane-enriched natural gas is an emission-pure variant of CNG, which, when burned, releases up to 80% less carbon dioxide emissions into the air than petrol or diesel, and thus meets even the strictest limits of pure mobility. Finnish Refuse Tender Won with Biogas Fleet

ScaniaP340 NG for UrbaserInclusion of natural gas powered vehicles in its fleet was the decisive factor for Kuopio Municipality in Finland to choose Urbaser as the successful refuse collection tenderer. Urbaser had the advantage of offering its services using six Scania’s biogas trucks.

Gasrec’s flagship DIRFT facility has the capacity to refuel 700 heavy goods vehicles per day.

Gasrec has recorded a five-fold increase in sales of gas across its commercial vehicle refuelling network in the first quarter of 2020, versus the same period in 2019. This record growth follows an influx of new trucks into the market running on compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquified natural gas (LNG) – with demand in March 2020 exceeding the previous peak of September 2014, at the height of the Euro-5 dual fuel era. The paper Do gas trucks reduce emissions? recently published by T&E (Transport & Environment) has provided NGVA Europe the opportunity to rectify some aspects and complement with educational elements and details about gas in transport. T&E’s conclusions are mainly based on a set of emissions measurement campaigns run by TNO (the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research). However, while reports from TNO are scientifically well proven, NGVA Europe notes the conclusions drawn by T&E are misaligned with the measurements reported. Read more »
