Dairy Facility Orders Puregas Turnkey RNG Solution, First for U.S.

The Puregas solution will convert methane gas from cow manure into sustainable transportation fuel.

Technology from Puregas Solutions, a part of the technology group Wärtsilä, will process 3100 cfm (cubic feet per minute) of biogas from the anaerobic digestion of manure from more than 50,000 dairy cows in Oregon. The renewable natural gas (RNG) will then be injected into a pipeline for use as transportation fuel in neighbouring California. Read more »

Gasum Accelerates Nordic Natural Gas Uptake with 50 Stations for HDVs

Gasum is investing in the construction of around 50 gas filling stations for heavy-duty vehicles in Finland, Sweden and Norway by the beginning of the 2020s. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and Stanford School of Engineering’s Spormann Laboratory have been awarded funding to study new technology with potential to significantly reduce the cost of producing renewable natural gas (RNG) and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The two entities will receive $800,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and SoCalGas will provide co-funding of $400,000 in addition to $125,000 of seed funding it provided in 2017.  Read more »

UK OLEV-Funded Fleet Trial to Highlight Benefits of Renewable Biomethane

The UK’s CNG Fuels is opening a renewable biomethane refuelling station at Northampton as part of the UK’s first large-scale study of how compressed natural gas (CNG) can help slash road transport emissions. The project, which has received funding from the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) in partnership with Innovate UK, aims to encourage UK fleet operators to switch from diesel to cost-effective, low-carbon biomethane fuel by demonstrating performance benefits, and by showing that CNG stations can support growing demand for gas. SaiPa Leads Finnish Ice Hockey League with Skoda Octavia G-Tec and Biogas
