Global transportation company Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. and Saibu Gas Co., Ltd., both located in Fukuoka, and The Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. of Hiroshima for joint discussions on the commercialization of a new business to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel to ships in the Setouchi and Kyushu areas of western Japan. Proviridis Brings Second Natural Gas Filling Station to Marseille Region

Under the fuel brand name ‘V-GAS’, the company is expanding its presence across southern France. Port of Amsterdam Doubles Incentive for LNG Fueled Vessels

Port of Amsterdam LNG bunkeringFor some years Port of Amsterdam has been giving discounts on port dues to vessels listed in the Environmental Ship Index (ESI) that have attained an ESI score of 20 points or higher. As of 1 August, this incentive will be doubled for vessels that are in the possession of an ESI certificate and use LNG for their main engine or auxiliary engine. The Port aims to have a bunker pontoon for LNG in place by the end of 2018. Eagle LNG JAXPORT Bunkering Facility Officially Opened

Eagle LNG plant official openingEagle LNG Partners (Eagle LNG)’s Maxville shore-side LNG facility has been officially launched by an opening ceremony on July 25. The Maxville facility was built to supply Eagle LNG’s Marine Fuel Depot at the Port of Jacksonville’s (JAXPORT) Talleyrand Marine Terminal on the St. Johns River. The UK’s CNG Fuels is opening a renewable biomethane refuelling station at Northampton as part of the UK’s first large-scale study of how compressed natural gas (CNG) can help slash road transport emissions. The project, which has received funding from the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) in partnership with Innovate UK, aims to encourage UK fleet operators to switch from diesel to cost-effective, low-carbon biomethane fuel by demonstrating performance benefits, and by showing that CNG stations can support growing demand for gas. Toronto Commits to RNG Facility to Fuel Waste Collection Fleet

Continuing that theme of responsible city management, Toronto has collaborated with Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. to build one of the first renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities in Canada which will generate fuel for the city’s waste management fleet. Toronto’s more than 600 vehicles collect waste from approximately 1.6 million garbage, Blue Bins and Green Bins.
