London’s Islington Adopts CNG for Clean Fleet

Scania Double Decker Biogas Buses for Reading UK

Reading Buses have taken 17 new high-end Scania double decker biogas buses into operation. The buses, with bodywork by Alexander Dennis, service Reading’s busiest bus route, the Purple 17. This is the first frequent bus service in the UK that can carry two wheelchair users at once. “We’re delighted to have been able to work with Scania and Alexander Dennis on a pioneering high specification for these city buses,” says Reading Buses’ Chief Executive Officer, Martijn Gilbert. “These provide users with modern and eco-friendly travel including a range of features to aid customers’ journeys, with the latest digital connectivity and extra features for wheelchair users.” The buses feature two doors, one for embarking and one for disembarking, which reduces time at bus stops. They also feature 4G Wi-Fi as well as USB charging points and coat and bag hooks at seats. “Scania is firmly committed to driving the shift to more sustainable transport systems,” comments Mark Oliver, Scania Great Britain. “When operating on biogas, the carbon dioxide emissions of Scania buses are reduced by up to 84 percent compared to regular diesel. Ankai Secures 70 CNG Bus Order for Kazakhstan

Ankai CNG Buses being built for KazakhstanOn the production line of Chinese bus manufacturer Anhui Ankai Automobile Co., Ltd. (Ankai), 70 exotic Ankai natural gas buses are being built for Kazakhstan. Ankai reports there is a “new upsurge” in the New Year’s orders. The buses have been ordered by Kazakhstan Saryarka AvtoProm LLP, which signed up for 70 8.5 metre units in January.  Read more »

Jordan School District Commended for Fleet of Natural Gas School Buses

Jordan School District CNG busJordan School District (JSD), the largest of the U.S. State of Utah’s school districts, currently has the largest fleet of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) school buses in the state and the Board of Education just approved an additional 36 new CNG buses. Vicinity CNG Buses Ordered for Ontario Public Transport Agency

(Grande West), a Canadian manufacturer of mid-sized multi-purpose transit vehicles for sale in Canada and the United States, is to supply a new Vicinity order for approximately $3.1 million. Hamilton Street Railway (HSR), a public transport agency in Hamilton, Ontario has placed a new order for compressed natural gas (CNG) Vicinity buses.  This is the second order from HSR for delivery in 2018. Seven IVECO Stralis NPs for UK Haulage Company
