Iveco, part of CNH Industrial, has supplied five Stralis NP trucks to VERBIO Logistik GmbH (a subsidiary of VERBIO Vereinigte BioEnergie AG). VERBIO will run the new vehicles on biomethane generated from straw, taking a significant step towards CO₂ neutral transport in heavy goods vehicles. Jamaica is entering the era of natural gas powered transportation, beginning with five liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered buses. The government has approved a pilot project to retrofit buses operated by Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), the single largest carrier of passengers in the Kingston Metropolitan Region. Snam is the owner of Europe’s largest, most accessible pipeline network (32,455 km), one of the largest storage infrastructures in the European Union (16.5 bcm capacity) and of the first LNG terminal built in Italy. NefAZ PTC, a subsidiary of KamAZ, has delivered a batch of low-floor NEFAZ buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to Rostov-on-Don in southern Russia. U.S. company Waste Management is expanding its operations by constructing a new, cutting-edge facility utilizing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) at RiverPort Business Park in Hardeeville, South Carolina. The company will create 53 new jobs and invest USD 23 million at the new 25,000-square-foot facility, which will be located on Hwy 17, just off I-95 at Exit 5 in Jasper County. Read more »
Italgas, the leading gas operator in Italy and third in Europe, in December commenced the conversion of its entire fleet to methane-powered vehicles from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The first new cars were delivered to Turin, and thereafter to Rome and Naples, two of the main cities in which the Italgas Group operates. The company has set upon what is calls a virtuous path toward limiting transport-related harmful emissions.
According to the latest statistics made available by Infogas, Peru’s data website under the control of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Production and Transportation and Communications, the number of natural gas vehicle conversions in the country has reached 0.25 million at the end of November 2017. There are also 305 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling stations, up from 284 at the end of 2016. Read more »
