Maarten Wetselaar, Integrated Gas Director, Royal Dutch Shell plc, addressed invited guests and international delegates at LNG 18 in Perth last week on the theme of Innovation: Widening the Lens. He challenged them to take a fresh look at LNG’s potential for new, innovative approaches and to call on governments to recognise the benefits of gas through the policies they make, arguing that action is needed if LNG is to fulfil its long-term potential. The French Association for Natural Gas Vehicles (AFGNV) is making a big splash at next week’s International Transport and Logistics Week (SITL) at Paris Nord Villepinte. Under the banner of Transport Next Generation (TNG), the Association has coordinated nearly 700m2 of space dedicated to natural gas fuel solutions for ground transportation. In the United States, California Energy Commission (CEC) staff will conduct a public workshop with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to solicit public feedback and input on the 2015 Natural Gas Vehicle Research Roadmap (Draft). This workshop will present stakeholders the 2015 Natural Gas Vehicle Research Roadmap (Draft) and solicit public feedback on the research initiatives and priorities presented in the Roadmap. ADNOC Distribution, a UAE government-owned company specialised in the marketing and distribution of fuel products, has showcased its environment-friendly initiatives and achievements in preserving precious natural resources for future generations as part of its participation at the 9th edition of World Future Energy Summit from 18-21 January – one of the key events at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2016. NGV Global facilitated an NGV Centre of Technical Excellence (CoTE) at Gastech 2015 in Singapore at the end of October. The CoTE was part of a technical seminar programme held in the exhibition hall over the 4 days of the Gastech exhibition. The interactive seminars were free to attend and visitors to the exhibition could drop in to as many of the presentations as they liked. The first Executive Committee and Council meetings of the new IGU Triennium (2015-2018) were held from 20-23 October in the city of Cartagena, Colombia, attended by NGV Global. The event was hosted by the Asociación Colombiana de Gas Natural – Naturgas. Delegates were treated to the warm Colombian hospitality and were provided with glimpses of the history, culture and food that make Colombia such a special place to visit. Read more »

Free Natural Gas Trucking Workshops
Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas), the USA’s largest natural gas distribution utility, is teaming up with the California Trucking Association (CTA) to help expand awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of natural gas and alternative fuels for heavy-duty trucking and goods movement.
WGC 2015 in Paris has drawn to a close. While there has been much high level discussion about gas supply, investment, exploration, policy and pricing in the meeting halls and on the exhibition floor, the busiest sector in the pavilion has been the Natural Gas for Transportation Village – a first for the World Gas Congress and now a successful template for future WGC events.
The Village inauguration ceremony was addressed by the President of the International Gas Union (IGU), Mr Jérôme Ferrier, who welcomed participants and spoke of the rapidly increasing recognition and demand for natural gas as a cleaner, economic fuel, and his desire for NGV industry companies to succeed at WGC 2015.
“The focus of our event will be to draw together all stakeholders in this fuel evolution, increase awareness of a rapidly evolving industry, and plan for a sustainable energy future that is safe, reliable and economically viable. I am confident that by collaborating with industry leaders such as NGV Global and their peers, we are moving ever closer to real solutions that will consolidate the essential role that gas has to play in tomorrow’s world,” Mr. Ferrier concluded.
