Saudi Aramco, a state-owned oil company of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Pennsylvania-based Air Products have teamed-up to build the first retail hydrogen fueling station in Saudi Arabia, which will use Bennett Hydrogen Fuel Dispensers.
The station, set to open in the second quarter of 2019, will feature Air Products’ proprietary SmartFuel hydrogen fueling technology to supply vehicles with compressed hydrogen through Bennett Dispensers.
The site will collect valuable information that will be used in future hydrogen fuel cell applications in the region. Toyota Motor Corporation will supply Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell Vehicles for testing in this project.
“Hydrogen fuel cells offer an effective means for the electrification of transport while maintaining easy, 5 minute refueling and long driving ranges,” said Chief Technology Officer of Saudi Aramco, Ahmad O. Al Khowaiter.
“We are honored to work on another venture with Saudi Aramco to establish and develop a sustainable hydrocarbon-based hydrogen supply system” said Executive Vice President at Air Products, Dr. Samir Serhan.
