BAXI, a UK-based international provider of air conditioning systems operating in Spain since mid 2015, together with Gas Natural Distribución, a distribution subsidiary of Gas Natural Fenosa, has signed a partnership agreement to promote the use of compressed natural gas (CNG) in it’s Spanish fleet of after-sales vehicles.

The companies say the agreement reflects their commitment to sustainability and clean energies. The fleet transition will commence with a trial involving its vehicles in Madrid and Barcelona.

Gas Natural Distribución will provide Baxi with support in terms of technical issues, regulations, technologies and usage recommendations for natural gas as a fuel for vehicles.

At the signing event, Jordi Mestres, General Manager of BAXI for the Iberian Peninsula, expressed his firm desire “to expand the trial we are starting in Madrid and Barcelona to the entire BAXI fleet” and also expressed gratitude for “the excellent collaboration and positive working environment received from the Gas Natural team”.

In turn, Núria Rodríguez, Gas Distribution in Spain Business Manager for Gas Natural Distribución, explained “the importance of using natural gas as a fuel to reduce emissions and improve air quality in urban areas”, adding that natural gas is being called upon to be one of the fuels of the future in the transport sector due to its numerous advantages, both economic and environmental. He said this type of agreement is important for supporting development of the gas distribution network in Spain and reduce pollution.
