India’s Bajaj Auto Ltd has launched its new four-stroke compressed natural gas (CNG) autorickshaw, reports The Hindu. The RE 205 M CNG, first announced in May 2010, is apparently aimed at lifting Bajaj’s 85% share of the CNG auto category to 95%. Features include increased luggage space, higher roof space for greater passenger comfort, improved fuel economy and a four-stroke engine that will vibrate less than the two-stroke. Bajaj General Manager Mr. Gangadhar explained the model had a 200 cc long life engine and it would not burden the owners with higher maintenance costs.
