A CNG station network will service new Iveco buses
Rovnag Abdullayev, CEO of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) which is headquartered in the capital city of Baku, has stated the company will build six Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling stations next year at the request of the government, reports Baku Post. Initial works have already commenced.
In May this year, Baku Bus purchased 151 Iveco Crealis CNG buses in preparation for hosting the Pan-European Games in June 2015. Using a French-made Cursor 8 engine produced in Bourbon-Lancy, the buses conform to Euro VI emission standard.
According to Abdullayev, the stations will be located on the outskirts of Baku. Further stations are planned over coming years, reportedly to be located approximately 180 kms apart, thereby providing a CNG refueling network for the city.
