Aida Names First Helios-Class LNG-fueled Newbuilding AIDAnova

| Germany, Rostock

Aida Helios-class LNG fueled vesselAida Cruises has revealed the name of the first of two new Helios-class liquefied natural gas(LNG) fueled cruise ships with the spectacular unveiling of a street-art style banner within the scope of a Prime Time show aboard AIDAperla and on the construction hall where it is being built. Appropriately, the newbuild will carry the fleet name of AIDAnova.

In its first season, AIDAnova will be traveling Madeira and the Canary Islands for seven-day cruises from December 2018. They are one of the most popular destinations for guests from the German-speaking region, particularly in the winter months. Under the headline of “My perfect vacation,” the first cruises of the 13th member of the AIDA fleet are now open for reservations.

The keel laying of the new ship will take place in September 2017, at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. Its undocking is scheduled for August 2018.

The second helios-class LNG-fueled newbuild will join the fleet in 20121.
