In the Philippines agreement has been reached between the government and the Malampaya consortium over the supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) for a fleet of up to 200 buses, reports The Manila Times. The consortium members include Shell Philippines Exploration B.V., Chevron Malampaya and Philippine National Oil Co. – Exploration Corp (PNOC-EC). The agreement, to run until 2018, will reportedly be signed November 3, says Omar Castillo, Philippine National Oil Co. Exploration Corp. vice president.
Included in the agreement is PNOC-EC’s takeover of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp.’s CNG refilling station in Binan, Laguna and storage facility in Batangas. Following completion of the station takeover PNOC-EC is apparently going to proceed with the construction of a second filling station, this one at Batangas Port.
Castillo explained that expansion of refuelling requirements beyond the 200 buses will require a separate agreement.
