Bangladesh Govt Favors Heavy Duty CNG Vehicles Through Tax Cuts

June 19, 2007

Bangladesh, Dhaka

The Government of Bangladesh has reduced taxes & supplementary taxes for compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy vehicles to 0% from 15%. The cuts were made by Dr. Mirza Azizul Islam, Head of Ministry of Finance during a budget session earlier this month. He also expressed that due to the creation of a cleaner environment in the Dhaka city through the use of natural gas vehicles, the Govt. is interested in promoting imported heavy CNG vehicles. Heavy diesel vehicles are main contributors of PM 10 & 2.5 in the city.
