Argentine NGV Chamber Releases 2006 Strategic Targets

January 31, 2006

Argentina, Buenos Aires

The Argentine Chamber for Natural Gas Vehicles (CAGNC) recently elected Chairman, Mr Carlo Evi has announced a series of strategic initiatives for the industry for 2006.

Initiatives announced include:

  • The CAGNC will firmly endorse those government policies aimed at the increasing energy diversity in the face of an emerging “Peak Oil” environment.
  • The CAGNC will support authorities to  find and establish a way to solve problems of illegal conversions and certification fraud which may affect the end user and, consequently, the whole NGV activity.
  • The CAGNC will work actively on the preparation of the 2004/2007 Sectorial Plan and on the Vehicular Gas Integration in the Mercosur Region, Bolivia and Chile.
  • As part of the Sectorial Plan the CAGNC will push forward a Pilot Plan to convert 1000 diesel heavy duty vehicles into CNG and the implementation of the National Test Laboratory for Certification of Heavy Duty Engines.
  • The CAGNC will assist the Ministry of Federal Planning, Public Investment and Services to develop natural gas vehicles as a substitute to reduce importation of gas oil.
