February 10, 2009

Pakistan, Islamabad

Argentina’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Rodolfo Martin Saravia and the Vice President Galileo Argentina CNG Company, Juan Ojanguren, have been informed by Federal Minister for Environment, Hameedullah Jan Afridi of the Pakistan government’s plan to run 8000 CNG buses in 9 mega cities of the country. Argentina has accepted the invitation to assist in establishing high pressure CNG stations for buses.

According to the report from Pakistan’s Associated Press, deliberations are at an advanced stage and modalities for financing importing and running buses as well as setting up high pressure CNG Stations are being worked out. Affrida said the Hydro Carbon Development Institute has been asked to set up a high pressure CNG station as a pilot project.

The Minister said promotion of CNG culture in the country would not only provide cheap transport to the commuters but also help control rising air pollution in the country.
