John Lyon, IANGV President congratulates Chuncheon City Mayor Gwan Jan Lee, on Chuncheon’s successful bid for NGV 2012

Cairo, Egypt

Unanimous agreement at the IANGV Council Meeting in Cairo, following
NGV 2006 saw Chuncheon, Korea, awarded the host city for NGV 2012.
Chuncheon Mayor, Mr Gwang Jun Lee, led a delegation from the Gangwon
province, and made what IANGV President, John Lyon described as “an
impressive and inspiring presentation” outlining the benefits to the
industry of hosting NGV 2012 in Chuncheon City. The presentation
outlined support for the bid from all levels of Government in Korea.

Gangwon is making a name for itself as a venue for international
events, with the 2010 World Leisure Congress and Games to be held in
Chuncheon in 2010 and Pyeongchang city currently on the short list for
the 2014 Winter Olympics. A new convention center, the venue for NGV
2012, is currently in development and due for completion by 2010.

Dates for NGV 2012 are to be advised with October/November currently the likely months for the event to be held.

Meanwhile, a bidding document is currently being prepared for NGV 2010,
expected to be released before the end of the year. 2010 will mark the
25th year of the IANGVs operation. Keep an eye on NGV Global for
details.
