Finland Orders Greenlane ‘Kanuka’ Biogas Upgrading Plant
Greenlane Biogas AB, a Sweden-based supplier of biogas upgrading technology and part of the Flotech Group, has announced that it has secured an order from Sarlin Oy for what will be the first commercial-scale biogas upgrading plant in Finland. The Greenlane plant will be installed in Mäkikylä, Finland and will process raw biogas generated from a waste water treatment plant to provide high quality biomethane, suitable for injection to the natural gas grid and/or vehicle refuelling. After just twelve years of production, the 30,000th Mercedes-Benz Citaro has now been delivered. The Citaro G CNG sporting silver metallic paintwork offset with traffic orange is fitted with an environmentally friendly natural gas engine. The M 447 (h)LAG engine rated at 240 kW (326 PS) complies with the EEV (Enhanced Environmentally friendly Vehicle) emissions standard without a particulate filter. Energy Commission Awards Funds for Alternative Fuel Projects for California
Biogas from wastewater has potential to replace 29% annual diesel consumed in the State
The California Energy Commission has approved two awards that leverage more than $2.3 million in state funding with $3.37 million in private funds. The projects will reduce petroleum use, cut pollution and provide jobs by demonstrating the possibilities of installing a natural gas vehicle refuelling station, and capturing natural gas from wastewater sludge. Peru Expects 105,000 NGVs On Roads by End 2010
Peruvian compressed natural gas (CNG) station operator, Peruana de Gas Natural (PGN) has reportedly announced that, by the end of 2010, they expect to see 105,000 NGVs on the road in Peru. Media outlets in Peru are reporting that to serve that growing market, PGN also announced the construction of up of 10 new CNG stations in Lima by year end, which would bring their total to 35 stations in the Lima area. Vanzetti Engineering Opens Italy’s First Public LCNG Fuelling Station
Vanzetti Engineering S.r.l. has completed construction of Italy’s first public Liquefied to Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) fuelling station. The station has been built at Villafalletto (Cuneo), about 50km south of Vanzetti’s base in Moretta, in the country’s north-west region. Enhanced Emissions and Fuel Efficiency for HD Methane Engines
A report entitled Enhanced Emissions Support and Fuel Efficiency for HD Methane Engines, prepared by AVL MTC Motortestcenter AB for the International Energy Agency – Advanced Motor Fuels, may be of interest to decision-makers considering the introduction of methane fuel HD engines. This literature survey was conducted in order to define the state-of-the-art for methane-fuelled engines to be used in heavy-duty vehicles. The use of methane can increase energy security, mitigate CO2 emissions, and potentially reduce toxic exhaust emissions.
PetroChina Plans LNG Facility and Fuelling Stations for Lhasa, Tibet
PetroChina Co. Ltd plans to build a 300 million yuan (USD 44.1 million) liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in western China to supply Tibet, according to parent China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC)’s news site. The project, scheduled to be operational by October 2011, will include as a third stage an unspecified number of gas stations in the Tibetan capital Lhasa, serviced by a 38 kilometer gas grid. CNPC says that once the Lhasa project is completed, LNG supply will be extended to other Tibetan regions.

Bord Gáis Launches Report on Renewable Gas
Irish gas company, Bord Gáis has launched a report on The Future of Renewable Gas in Ireland. The report outlines how grass and waste can be converted into natural gas that can then be used locally or piped into the national grid for distribution around Ireland. CNGVA Launches New Website
A completely redesigned Canadian Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance (CNGVA) website has been launched with a much improved design and better layout of key messages and industry information. The NGV industry in Canada is showing considerable promise at the moment, with CNGVA and other stakeholders engaged heavily with Federal and State governments to create a favorable climate for NGVs. Natural Resources Canada has scheduled a third and final Roundtable for the Natural Gas for Transportation Deployment Roadmap to be held on Monday, September 27th in Ottawa.
