Xiamen Bus Group, located in Xiamen, Fujian province, will shortly receive 50 CNG buses for city transportation, with more bus routes and increased frequency driving the demand, reports whatsonxiamen. The buses are manufactured by King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd, also in Xiamen and are due for delivery in August. The buses are 10.5 meters long, with a driving range of 400 kilometers.

The acquisition of new buses has necessitated an immediate recruitment drive for 200 bus drivers.

According to Mr. Pan Shijian, deputy mayor of Xiamen, 300 CNG buses will be introduced in the initial period and 50 percent of the city buses will be replaced by natural gas-fuelled buses within three to five years.
