New Investment Supports Clean Energy’s Expanding Natural Gas Fueling Infrastructure

Pakistan Implements Measures to Check CNG Conversion Compliance in PSVs

India’s Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has released figures to show that the state of Gujarat has outstripped growth in all other regions including the National Capital Region (NCR) for the number of compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations, reports DNA. Of the 724 CNG stations operating across the country at the end of November 2011, Gujarat reportedly has 258, or one third of the total. New Delhi has 239, while Maharashtra follows next with 164. US-registered China Natural Gas, Inc. (CHNG) is a provider of compressed natural gas (CNG) for vehicular fuel in Xi’an, China. The city of Xi’an has approximately 20,000 taxis, 5,000 buses and 3,000 special purpose vehicles that are powered by compressed natural gas. Profitable CHNG business segments include retail natural gas at company-owned natural gas fueling stations and conversion of gasoline-fueled vehicles to hybrid (natural gas/gasoline) powered vehicles.

Meals-On-Wheels Gets Cleaner in Pennsylvania

Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc. (CCAAA) and UGI Utilities Inc., both of Pennsylvania, have joined forces to convert the agency’s fleet of 11 cargo vans to compressed natural gas (CNG). The vans, used for meals-on-wheels food deliveries, will be able to operate more economically and with reduced emissions while utilising domestic fuel supply, reports The Progress. Fuel will be supplied by UGI via a GreenLine Fuels-manufactured fueling station that will be located at the CCAAA meal preparation facility. Two vehicles have so far been converted to bi-fuel (gasoline/natural gas) operation; all vehicles should be converted within one year. Fuel savings of more than USD 2,500 per vehicle per annum are expected to be realized.

ECUA Purchases 50 Natural Gas Refuse Trucks

Florida’s Emerald Coast Utilities Authority (ECUA), based in the city of Pensacola, is purchasing 50 new natural gas refuse trucks and partnering with local natural gas provider Energy Services of Pensacola (ESP) to provide fuel, reports NorthEscambia.com. ESP is to construct a fast-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) station at ECUA’s Sanitation Department depot, expected to be completed by July 2012 when the new trucks are also to be delivered. Under the terms of the agreement, ECUA will pay ESP a monthly transportation charge as well as an indexed price per diesel gallon equivalent of CNG fuel used by ECUA vehicles. Read more »

Middelkoop Tests Scania P310 LNG for Fleet Operations

After an extensive testing period with Rotra Forwarding in Doesburg, the liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered Scania P310 truck has started operations as a test fleet vehicle for logistics transportation company D.J. Middelkoop & Zn. Duiven. The Scania P310 is fitted with a double walled tank with a capacity of 145 kg, mounted on the left of the chassis. This provides a range of about 450 km. Optionally, the capacity can be expanded with a 100 kg tank on the right.

A presentation of the first Russian Yo-Mobile ‘hybrid’ bi-fuel vehicles, Yo-Concept and sporty Yo-Crossover, has taken place at Gazprom’s headquarters in Moscow. Alexey Miller, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Management Committee (CEO) of Russian energy giant OAO Gazprom, and Andrey Biryukov, President of the Yarovit Holding and CEO of the Yo-Auto project, presided. Miller declared, “Yo-Mobil is of our interest as an NGV market driver.”

The Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles Association reports that 122 local and 59 overseas delegates attended the conference and technical tour of the Go Gas 2011 Forum, held in Jakarta early December.
