Biogas in Brussels: Finally on the Policy Agenda as a Vehicle Fuel

Biogas, particularly as a vehicle fuel has had a challenging time getting on the European alternative fuel policy agenda but it appears that renewable methane for vehicles is finally “on the list.”  That’s according to the European Commission (EC) project directors who spoke at the final workshop of the EC-funded project Biogasmax in Brussels on 14th September 2010.

Pennsylvania Republicans Propose Plan for NGV Expansion

US State of Pennsylvania’s House Republicans have unveiled a four-part plan to expand the use of the Marcellus shale gas as a transportation fuel, starting with the state’s own fleet of 16,000 vehicles. The proposals are tied into the state’s contentious attempts to implement a new severance tax.

CNG Shuttle Buses for Conrad Bangkok

Launch of NGV shuttle bus service celebrated in Bangkok

The Conrad Bangkok and All Seasons Place have launched an NGV shuttle bus service, supporting a “Going Green” campaign as part of a community and green environment project. The two shuttle buses are 4-cylinder 5.2 litre Dongfeng Hangzhou DHZ6840CT1 models employing Euro III compliant YC4G Series Mono-Fuel CNG engines.

Clean Air Trash Trucks Deployed Around Vancouver

US company Waste Management will deploy 20 new clean air trucks in January 2011 to serve businesses in Lower Mainland, the area surrounding Vancouver, thanks to Waste Management’s new Vancouver Clean Air Initiative and funding from Terasen Gas. The trucks will be powered by CNG as part of Waste Management’s broader efforts to improve air quality and help local and provincial governments meet aggressive new sustainability goals.

Californian Trash Hauler Commits to CNG

Environmentally focused trash hauler MarBorg Industries, from Santa Barbara, California is spending about $1 million on a new compressed natural gas fueling station, which will power 16 of the company’s garbage trucks, reports The Daily Sound. Purchasing its first CNG truck in February 2008, the fleet will have grown to 16 trucks by November this year.

First CNG Filling Station Opens in Northern Peru

Virtual pipeline technology will be used to distribute CNG in northern Peru.

Piura has become the first city in northern Peru to open a compressed natural gas service station and specialized conversion center. The development forms part of the Gas Comprimido del Perú (Gascop) investment to supply natural gas to the northern region of Peru, primarily to the cities of Piura, Chiclayo and Trujillo, using mobile ‘virtual  pipeline’ technology.

Driving VW Sciroccos, the first race was won by Fredrik Ekblom, with Patrik Olsson in eighth place. In the second race Olsson finished second while Ekblom made fourth place.

Dynetek Announces Indian JV with S.V. Energy

Canada’s Dynetek Industries Ltd, a manufacturer of fuel storage systems for CNG and hydrogen, has executed a letter of intent to form Dynetek Cylinders India Pvt. Ltd. (DNK India), an Indian joint venture (JV) to be 49% owned by Dynetek and 51% owned by S.V. Energy, an Indian partnership. Formalization of agreements for the JV are expected to be completed by November 30, 2010.

Tata Delivers CNG Hybrid Buses in Time for Commonwealth Games

Tata's CNG-Electric Hybrid bus starts trial

Tata Motors has presented four CNG-Electric Hybrid Low-floor Starbuses to the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), to be run in the city during the Commonwealth Games period which commences October 3.   Tata says this is the first time in India that hybrid buses will be used for public transportation. DTC will also operate a fleet of 600 Tata low floor air-conditioned CNG buses for the exclusive use of athletes and delegates.
