Fiat Supports ‘Green Schooner’ Campaign with Natural Gas Vehicle Products

June 24, 2008 – 12:00 am | Italy, Turin

Natural gas vehicles major factor in Fiat environmental platform

Fiat Group Automobiles is participating as Technical Sponsor in the “Green Schooner” initiative, a summer campaign run by Legambiente, providing information since 1986 on seawater cleanliness and organizing events linked to safeguarding the marine and coastal ecosystem. The event this year will run from 27th June to 18th August. Fiat’s credentials are supported by the automotive research and consulting firm JATO Dynamics, which recently announced that, out of the ten biggest selling automobile brands in Europe, Fiat Automobiles is the brand that recorded the lowest average CO2 emissions value for cars sold in 2007: 137.3 g/km. With natural gas vehicles playing a significant role in Fiat’s lineup, the company is cited in Autospectator as believing that methane propulsion systems are currently the most appropriate and readily-available technology for resolving pollution problems in urban areas.

Atlantic Hydrogen Announces CarbonSaver Demonstration Project

June 24, 2008 – 12:00 am

Canada, Fredericton

Atlantic Hydrogen Inc.(AHI), is reported to be launching a large-scale demonstration project of its CarbonSaver technology, which they state creates a lower emissions natural gas fuel. The three-year, $10 million demonstration project will focus on validating the technology at commercial pressures and flow rates, placing a value on the extracted carbon and developing a commercialization strategy. “The funding from this new partnership will help us advance CarbonSaver towards commercial application by supporting tests of the technology’s capabilities on a significantly larger scale,” says David Wagner, President and CEO of AHI. “At the completion of the demonstration project, CarbonSaver is expected to be ready for use in power plants, compressors, natural gas vehicle refueling and even home and commercial heating.” The three-year demonstration project is scheduled to start this summer. The results are expected to lead to the commercialization of the CarbonSaver technology and the emergence of Atlantic Hydrogen as a leader in clean energy technology development. (source)

CALSTART Initiates NGV Purchasing Cooperative

June 20, 2008 – 12:00 am

USA

CALSTART is partnering with other NGV stakeholders to create a Natural Gas Vehicle Cooperative Purchase Program to coordinate the high volume purchase of light- and medium-duty vehicles by public and private fleets. It is proposed to conduct this program mostly within California, but will include Arizona and Nevada to increase potential demand, with the possibility of expanding it beyond these states if this effort is successful and if there is funding available. The Cooperative will assist fleets in “greening” their fleets with cleaner alternative fuel vehicles at affordable prices. It addition, the Cooperative wants to aggregate large enough numbers to incentivize dealers and manufacturers to not only participate in the Cooperative, but help them expand the market for these vehicles.
