6.0L Engine and Vehicle Certifications for Baytech

Conversion system provider Baytech Corporation has received 2006 and
2007 EPA and CARB certifications for the company’s compressed natural
gas (CNG) fueled GM 6.0L heavy duty engines, and medium and light duty
vehicles equipped with the GM 6.0L engine.  Heavy-duty engines are
available in both dedicated CNG and bi-fuel (CNG or gasoline)
configurations in all 50 states.

Natural Gas Vehicles Clearing the Air Around the Taj Mahal

ImageCorrosive effects of air pollution on the prestigious Taj Mahal look
set to reduce with the growing use of natural gas vehicles in the city
of Agra and other cities in the Uttar Pradesh region. Local press
reports indicate that city authorities officially inaugurated 15 CNG
buses in Agra earlier this month with another 100 expected to be join
them in the coming months. Business Standard reports that measures are
currently under way to ensure that all commercial vehicles operating
within a 50 km region of the Taj operate on compressed natural gas
(CNG).

US AFVI Conference Program Released

The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute (AFVI) released program
details for the Alternative Fuels & Vehicles Conference and Expo,
to be held in Anaheim, California, April 1-4. Formerly known as the
“Clean Cities Conference,” the alternative fuel and technology
gathering is designed to bring one-stop information and product
shopping to fleets, policy-makers, and advocates for clean
transportation choices. As with previous Clean Cities conferences,
natural gas vehicles will have a high profile, with NGVAmerica
spearheading a dedicated NGV zone within the event.  Early bird
deadlines for registrations close this Friday, February 2, 2007. More

Toyota Develops Industry-First Fuel Cell Lift Truck

Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU) will display a prototype
of what’s claimed to be the industry’s first fuel cell lift truck at
ProMat 2007. The prototype, called the Toyota FCHV-F, was developed by
Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) in cooperation with Toyota Motor
Corporation (TMC).

Nuvera to Provide PowerTap Hydrogen Refueling System

Lift Truck Provider to Research Fuel Cell Applications for Lift Trucks

New York State based Raymond Corporation is to turn the company’s
manufacturing facilities in Green NY into a “living lab” for hydrogen
fuel cell lift trucks, following the award of a contract for $750,000
from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority
(NYSERDA) to research hydrogen fuel cell applications in electric lift
trucks. The company has contracted Nuvera Fuel Cells to supply a
PowerTap PTH-12 hydrogen refueling system to support the experimental
forklifts.

Over 4,000 professional visitors to mark world’s fastest growing natural gas vehicle markets

Bangkok, Thailand is expected to provide the focal point this year for
the global natural gas vehicle (NGV) market, following the signing of
organizing agreements today for ANGVA 2007, the 2nd Biennial Conference
and Exhibition of the Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles Association.
Host association TANGV (Thailand Association for Natural Gas Vehicles)
has appointed Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd. (BES) as Exhibition
Organizer and Australian based NGV Network as Conference Organizer for
the three-day event, from November 27-29. Government owned energy
company PTT Thailand has also committed as a major sponsor of the event.

US Energy Enters Agreement Granting Exclusive Domestic U.S. Rights to BAF Technologies

Partnership Will Also Join Forces to Gain CARB Tier III Certification as Emission Control Device

Dual-Fuel system provider US Energy Initiatives Corporation (USEI) has
entered into an in principal agreement with BAF Technologies (BAF) to
grant exclusivity for portions of the domestic United States for sales
of the USEI's patent dual-fuel diesel to natural gas technology. In
addition, USEI will join its Hybrid Dual-Fuel System together with
BAF's SmartMuffler technology in a program to achieve a California Air
Resource Board (CARB) Tier III Certification as an emission control
device.

Malaysian Kia agent Naza Kia Sdn Bhd is to introduce bi-fuel natural
gas/gasoline versions of their Ria and Citra models. Press reports
quote Naza Automotive manager Mohamad Shalan Hassan as saying the Ria
will be converted to operate on compressed natural gas (CNG) with on
board fuel capacity to deliver a 346 km range while the Ria will have a
capacity of 160 km. Pricing for the vehicles is yet to be determined.

California based Omnitek Engineering, reports the commencement of a
natural gas re-powering project at the Bangkok Laem Chabang Sea Port.
The first two UTR container-handling vehicles, owned by LCB1 Ltd., were
recently put into service. Existing 5.9 Liter engines were replaced
with Omnitek 5.8 Liter CNG engines.

Westport Awarded $AU1.4 Million in Funding for LNG Truck Evaluation from Australian Government

Canadian engine technology developer, Westport Innovations Inc., have been awarded $AU1.36 million ($US1.06 million) from the Australian Government's Alternative Fuels Conversion Programme (AFCP), to evaluate the use of LNG as a fuel for heavy-duty highway trucks in Australia.  Mitchell Corp, Sands Fridge Lines and Murray Goulburn Cooperative, who each operate large fleets of long-distance trucks, will acquire four new Kenworth T404SAR trucks powered by 2008 model Cummins 15-litre engines incorporating Westport’s LNG fuel technology.

After a dream run so far, low gas pressure in India has prompted a
rethink for organizers of the EcoFuel world tour, circumnavigating the
globe in a compressed natural gas (CNG) VW Caddy. Expedition leader,
Rainer Zeitlow, says the low pressure and lower energy content gas at
CNG filling stations in India has meant the team has been unable to get
the required fuel on board to cover a proposed crossing of the
Himalaya’s into China.

World Bank Study

Pollution caused by passenger vehicles in Mumbai could best be dealt with by converting diesel buses to compressed natural gas (CNG) according to research from the World Bank. In a paper released late last year, The impact of policies to control motor vehicle emissions in Mumbai, India, researchers say that a conversion program would pass the cost-benefit test and reduce emissions more than attempts to reduce passenger car pollution by fuel pricing or vehicle licensing measures.
