CO2 Emissions Regulation Coming Down the Road?
There is on-going debate in the European Commission about the
potential for regulating CO2 as a greenhouse gas. Methane, due to its
Global Warming Potential (GWP) as one of the greenhouse gases, was
regulated by the European Commission in 1999. ENGVA’s position has been
that, if methane is to be regulated as a greenhouse gas, so should
other greenhouse gases in order to maintain balance and transparency in
the policy process.
One Thousand Environmental Taxis Project Concludes Successfully
Germany, Berlin
Berlin’s TUT project (to facilitate a thousand environmental or
alternative fuel taxis), first launched in 2000 is to conclude this
year, following the successful completion of its objectives. Berlin now
has a total of 1000 taxis or driving school cars, powered by natural
gas as a result of the project. Local gas distributor, GASAG have
announced that due to the success of TUT, the company will continue to
with some initiatives arising from the project during 2007.
Toyota Backs Alternative Fuel Lift Trucks in US
Toyota Material Handling USA (TMHU) has unveiled its new 8-Series line of lift trucks encompassing 3,000 to 6,500 pound models, and including factory options for compressed natural gas and propane/LPG. Trägerkreises Erdgasfahrzeuge reports that the EU sponsored LIFE
programme now supports the PARFUM ( PArticulates, Freight, and heavy
duty vehicules in Urban environMents) project in Bremen, Italy and the
Netherlands including active support for natural gas vehicles.
Asian Development Bank Invests in Clean Fuels Company in India
CNG Motorcycles for Bangladesh
China Chongqing Big (Group) Co. Ltd is to market compressed natural gas (CNG) Motor Cycle in Bangladesh through the Society for Urban Environmental Protection (SUEP), Dhaka Bangladesh. The motorcycles will be the first environmentally friendly CNG cycles to be introduced to Bangladesh. Engine capacities will range from 100cc to 150cc. An agreement signing ceremony will take place between SUEP and China Chongqing Big (Group) Co. Ltd on 21 December 2006 in China.

Natural Gas Articulated Buses Begin Operation in Nantes
France, Nantes
The city of Nantes, France have inaugurated the first of 20
articulated compressed natural gas (CNG buses) for operation on the
cities bus-ways. The 18 metre long Citaros are powered by Mercedes’ M
447 hLAG engines, delivering 240 kW (326 hp) and fuelled via 8 roof
mounted CNG cylinders, carrying sufficient fuel for a full day’s shift.

Delhi Shortlists Suppliers for Low Floor Mega Buses in 2007

Delhi is stepping up its public transport network with orders expected
by March next year for a minimum 625 low-floor articulated ‘mega buses’
to service city routes. With public transport in Delhi restricted to
compressed natural gas (CNG) fuelled vehicles, suppliers will be
restricted to those who can supply CNG engines.

The Board of Canadian based Clean Energy Combustion Systems Inc. (CECU) have announced terms of an agreement with Lucky Power International Limited (a BVI company registered in Hong Kong) for an exclusive license of technology patented in the People's Republic of China for the recovery, purification and compression of raw landfill gas into high quality Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for transport. The raw gas is collected from the decomposition of municipal waste in the landfills associated with large Chinese cities.
