Australian based Advanced Engine Components Limited (AEC) has signed
a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") with IBH Motors Ltd (IBH) of
Bangladesh. Pursuant to the MOU, ACE and IBH will jointly form a
company, to be named IBAEC Engine Limited, to assemble natural gas
engines in Bangladesh.

Delegates in Pakistan have concluded a 3-day International Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Conference, organized by National Forum for Environment & Health in Karachi. In his closing address to the conference, Hilal Raza, Director General, Hydrocarbon Development Institute of Pakistan said more than Rs.15 billion ($US250 million) have been invested so far in the CNG sector in Pakistan, establishing 1060 Gas Stations in more than 76 cities and towns servicing more than one million converted vehicles.
Thailand, Bangkok
The Working Committee of ANGVA 2007 (Second Conference and Exhibition
of the Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicles Association) has officially
appointed NGV Communications Group as organizer of the event to be held
in Bangkok, Thailand, Oct 24-27 2007.
Petrol, Bulgaria's biggest fuel retailer is reportedly to invest 1
million Euro ($US1.27 million) in the construction of 3 or 4 compressed
natural gas (CNG) filling stations on the sites of existing gas outlets
by the end of 2006.
The voting on ISO Draft International Standard 15500-20 Road vehicles —
Compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system components — Part 20:
Rigid fuel line in material other than stainless steel has resulted in
approval of the draft by ISO TC22/SC25, the subcommittee responsible for
international standards on many aspects of NGVs. The draft standard is
available for viewing on the IANGV website.

Production Ramping Up; Initial Orders Shipped to Customers
Fuel
Systems Solutions, Inc. has launched a new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
refueling station, with initial orders valued at approximately $1.5
million.

Wesfarmers Limited today announced an investment of up to $138 million
to construct a 175 tonne-per-day liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in
Western Australia. Associated distribution infrastructure will
provide fuel for heavy duty vehicles (HDV) as well as servicing two
remote power stations.
China
US listed China Natural Gas Inc is continuing the expansion of its
retail compressed natural gas (CNG) retail network, purchasing two
additional retail compressed natural gas filling stations located in
the city of Xi’An, Shaanxi province. The two acquisitions bring the
total number of operating company-owned retail filling stations to 11.

Russia, Moscow
Russian gas giant Gazprom has signed an accord on gasification with the
Republic of Komi, covering the gasification of the republic and
including a program for the conversion of light duty vehicles and
agricultural equipment. Details of the programs are yet to be developed.

IANGV Technical and Council Meetings will be held in conjunction with NGV2006, being held in Cairo, Egypt. IANGV members are invited to attend both of these meetings.
Based on the 121st article of the third national program of
economical, social and cultural development of the country, the Iranian
Fuel Conservation Organization (IFCO), a subsidiary of National Iranian
Oil Company (NIOC), was established in 2000, aiming to manage the
fuel consumption in different sectors through the review and survey of
consumption trends and executing conservation projects
nationwide.
Organizers are inviting exhibitors interesting in exhibiting at the
11th International LPG – CNG – LNG Gas Forum, Warsaw, Poland, March 8-9
2007. The event will be held at the Sofitel Victoria hotel, and is
expected to attract more than 5,000 guests. More information is

A Look Back at the IANGV Twenty Years Ago
1988. His contribution and leadership was of great importance in
the establishment of the association. The fact that 2006 is the
20th anniversary of IANGV is testament to this.
In 1986, the only two countries with significant numbers of natural
gas-powered vehicles were Italy and New Zealand. Italy had natural gas
vehicles as early as the 1930’s while New Zealand had made a bold start
and within a few years had converted 100,000 vehicles by the early
1980’s. Argentina was getting started with its program, and no one
outside of that country anticipated the spectacular growth of its NGV
fleet in a very few years.
