Germany Takes Up New International CNG Signage

August 30, 2006 – 5:12 pm

ImageGibgas reports that the German Federal Ministry of Transport has taken up recently adopted international signage for compressed natural gas (CNG) stations. The Ministry added the signage to the official catalogue on June 27 for publication in August (ref # 365-54). United Nations Working Party 1 (Road Traffic Safety) recommended the signage for international adoption in September last year (see NGV Global story).

ULSD, Ethanol Demand to Cause Tank Truck Shortage, Execs Say

The changing face of the liquid fuel market in the US continues to put pressure on fuel supplies, this time with possible shortages of delivery tankers posing a threat. Transport Topics reports that trucking executives anticipate a shortage of fuel delivery vehicles in the coming months due to growing demand for ethanol and ultra-low-sulfur-diesel (ULSD).

Los Angeles World Airports Releases Request for Proposals for Compressed Natural Gas Fuel Station

Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) today released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fuel Station at Ontario International Airport (ONT). The proposed station will promote efficient and convenient use of clean fuel for vehicles operated by ONT and its tenants. The public will also have access to the on-airport station which will be close to local streets, highways and freeways, and open 24 hours a day.

LAX Gets CNG Articulated Buses

North American Bus Industries, Inc. (NABI) has recently completed delivery of 12 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to Los Angeles World Airports, the operating body of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  The stylized, articulated 60-BRT buses will be the first articulated vehicles for passenger service at LAX, purchased to accommodate large aircraft, such as the Airbus 380, which is planned to begin service at LAX in November.

IMPCO Technologies, Inc. reported that stockholders at the company's annual meeting have approved a proposed corporate reorganization and name change to Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. As part of the reorganization, stockholders of IMPCO will receive one whole share of common stock of Fuel Systems Solutions, Inc. in exchange for every two shares of IMPCO common stock owned at the time of the reorganization.

100 Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Vehicles to Natural Gas

100 Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) cars are to be converted
for operation on compressed natural gas (CNG) as part of a project
which could see all BMA vehicles converted.  The vehicles will be
converted by the end of this month with the cooperation of energy
company PTT and the Thai Department of Energy.

Chevrolet Thailand Enters CNG Market

Dual-Fuel CNG/diesel pick up truck coming soon

Chevrolet Sales Thailand has announced its plans to enter the
alternative fuel car market this year, by offering customers the option
of equipping their new Chevrolet Optra 1.6L (Sedan & Estate) with
compressed natural gas (CNG) equipment, or upgrading their current
Optra 1.6L with CNG equipment.  In conjunction with the
announcement, Chevrolet said it will guarantee the quality of these
fuel systems, and the vehicle warranties will not be affected, as long
as the installation is performed by an authorized and certified
Chevrolet technician.
