
Germany’s first compressed natural gas (CNG) station on a motorway
has opened last weekend, improving access to CNG even further. The
station, a Shell rest stop located at the Europa Park in Herbolzheim,
will be followed by another motorway stop to be opened shortly. Germany
already has more than 650 CNG refuelling stations, with more than 1,000
expected to be operational within the next few years.

35 CNG Buses for El Paso

Canadian based North American Bus Industries (NABI) has picked up
orders from Sun Metro Mass Transit, of El Paso, Texas for 35 compressed
natural gas (CNG) powered forty-foot low-floor buses. These new
40-LFW buses will replace a 15-year-old fleet of standard-floor diesel
buses. Total contract value is approximately $14 million with
delivery due in March 07.

AEC Commences Commercial Sales to Weichai

Advanced Engine Components Limited (AEC) has commenced commercial sales of AEC natural gas vehicle system (NGVS) kits to Weifang Weichai Peterson Gas Engine Co Ltd (Weichai) of China. Weichai is the second of AEC's Chinese customers to commence commercial production following commencement of sales to First Auto Works (FAW) announced on 12 April 2006.
Conversion Subsidies for Bucaramanga, Colombia
Motorists in the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, north of the capital Bogota, will benefit from a 1 million peso ($US400) subsidy towards converting their vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG). The subsidy is the result of a joint project by energy providers, including Gasoriente, ECOPETROL, Transoriente, Terpel and several conversion workshops in the city and is expected to increase conversion rates from 166 per month to 500 per month.
First CNG Buses Operating in Qing Dao City

Qing Dao Public Transport Group has
launched 40 CNG buses on city routes. Between now and 2008, when the
Olympic sailing events will be held in the city, the Group will be
investing 180 million Yuan ($US 22.5 million) putting a total of 856
CNG vehicles on the road. 520 of which will be buses with other
vehicles making up the balance, including 120 gasoline vehicles slated
for conversion.

Indian OEM Choices Increasing

Motorists in India are getting increasing
choice of OEM compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, with two more
manufacturers announcing pending product availability. With GM and
Hindustan Motors announcing CNG models recently, the Chevrolet Optra
and the Mitsubishi Lancer, Tata and Ford have now joined the list.
ACD Releases New Cryogenic Storage Filling Pump

ACD (Cryogenic Industries) have released their new X9 reciprocating
pump, suitable for cryogenic applications, including liquefied natural
gas (LNG) or liquefied/compressed natural gas (L/CNG) processes. The
pump features modular construction, with interchangeable cold ends
tested for applications up to 690 bar.

Toyota Thailand Planning CNG Vehicles

Media outlets in Thailand are reporting Toyota Thailand Vice Chairman,
Ninnart Chaithirapinyo, as saying that the company plans to release two
compressed natural gas (CNG) fuelled models, the Ventury van and a Limo
passenger car. The company expects to spend 6-12 months on engine and
product development prior to commercial availability. The comments were
made during a Government sponsored forum on the reduction of oil
consumption in Thailand.

Westport Lines Up LNG Partners

Natural gas engine technology provider,
Westport Innovations, is ensuring product is in place for its liquefied
natural gas (LNG) engines, signing a joint venture agreement for the
manufacture of LNG tanks and a License and Supply agreement for
cryogenic liquid natural gas (LNG) fuel pumps. The tank joint venture,
with Beijing Tianhai Industry Co. Ltd, has formed a separate company
BTIC Westport, while the pump licensing agreement, with Cryostar of
France, will see Cryostar license Westport technology and supply pumps
to Westport on an exclusive basis.
